Screen Printing Using Watercolours

This daisy screen print was created by drawing onto a printing screen using watercolour pencils. I then spread printing medium across the screen to give this design quite a controlled look. I liked this process, however it is not as suitable as using some other techniques.

The second print with the two flowers is a development from my original watercolour painting (above). This was the same process as the top print, however, I used watercolour paints which gave a more interesting and loose design. I am hoping to use some of these outcomes in my final show as I believe they show good technical ability and fit to my brief.

This is a test design on material. This gave me an idea into what my final outcome will look like when I get them digitally printed onto fabric. I have tried to experiment with using both traditional and modern methods of design.

I then added stitching to pick out certain elements of the design to add impact and to show off my ability of using a sewing machine.

This is one of my final outcomes. It is a material screen print on linen fabric. I am very happy with this and am hoping for it to become either a wall hanging or a patch work quilt.

Final Major Project

'A World Of Watercolour'

My final major project will be based around watercolour drawings of flowers and nature. I am interested in surface pattern and I would like to create well executed designs that can then be transferred into home ware. I am going to create a series of cushions, my material for the cushions will be digitally printed to give them a professional look. I will also create a pattern for a drop of wallpaper. I might also create smaller accessories for around the home that include my watercolour designs.

Using inspiration from Paris, and from other artists my outcomes will hopefully exceed my initial ideas.
